After reading articles like this, it’s easy to see that x-ray films and light boxes are clearly the thing of the past. With the use of OsiriX (a software available on the Mac, thank you very much) physicians are now able to have a much better view of the human body, allowing them to diagnose for diseases more efficiently. On top of that, they can share these images remotely to other physicians across town or around the globe. Heck, they can even view them from the comfort of their own home. The real breakthrough here is that software like this can be run using a plain jane store bought
PC Mac. In the near future, we may find these computers by the surgeon’s operating table. Through videoconferencing, a radiologist can even discuss the images with the surgeon during an actual operation.
